DIY Party favor on a budget

I hosted a baby shower for a good friend of mine over the summer. I was in charge of games, favors, prizes and decorations. She had about 30 people coming and I was on a budget, so I tried to find the best possible things for the lowest possible cost and I think it turned out pretty well. You can read about it here

I knew the favors would probably add up the fastest. So I racked my brain and the internet for party favor ideas and they all seemed too expensive. Finally I came up with an idea for the perfect DIY party favor on a budget..

I was in a Yankee candle outlet and votive candles were ONLY 50 cents. Can you believe that? 50 cents! Anyways, that inspired my idea. I bought 35 votives, so I would have a few extra. That cost $17.50.

Then I went to the craft store and bought dark green tissue paper and some twine. This matched our woodland theme. You can buy a tissue paper and ribbon that matches your theme. That way your favors will fit perfectly with any theme.

I cut each piece of tissue paper into quarters. Wrapped the candle in it and tied it with a bow. The twine was a little difficult to work with but I made it work. I think that with ribbon instead, it would have been SO simple!

To add a more personal touch, I printed stickers as well. I used Silhouette sticker paper because it’s a little thinner and goes through my printer a little bit easier than other brands.

The stickers had a little fox on them and the words “Thanks for celebrating with us!”

After printing the stickers out, I just cut them out with a scissors and stuck them on. I think that added a more personal touch, but they looked pretty without them as well. You could also just write on the tissue paper as well.

Now, I stumbled across an awesome sale and got name brand candles for really cheap, but you can always get votives at walmart or target and get good deals too.

I would say I spent less than $25 on favors for 30 people, which is SO budget friendly for me. Guests loved them too!
