I’m always looking for easy ways to earn a little money. I think about my finances a lot and I always want to find ways to improve my situation.
All of my “extra money” right now goes towards debt. The more money I make on the side, the more I get to put towards debt. Even if it seems like a small amount at the time, it will all add up in the long run.
Use Reward Apps
Ibotta
Ibotta is an app that gives you cashback for shopping at certain stores. There are hundreds of stores that you can choose from. When you are in the app you can unlock products to earn cash back on when you purchase them.
Once you purchase that item, you submit a picture of your receipt and the app will credit your account. You can also earn cash by shopping online on popular sites when you launch the site through the app.
Once you make a purchase on a particular site, Ibotta credits you a percentage back. I use the app when I do my grocery shopping and have earned $202 so far, which I can withdraw through Paypal or can redeem for gift cards.
You can also earn extra by teaming up with other users and work towards goals to earn extra each month. You team with people through Facebook and through referral codes.
Rakuten
Rakuten is another app/browser extension that you can use to get cashback on online purchases. I usually check both Rakuten and Ibotta and see which one offers the most percentage back and use that app.
The Rakuten browser extension is amazing. It will remind you to activate cashback and does the rest for you. You get paid once quarterly, either through paypal or a check in the mail. If you already shop online, it would be a waste to not use one of these apps and get cashback on items, you’re already purchasing!
Rakuten offers a $10 bonus if you use a referral link to sign up and then make a purchase. That’s free $10 and you’ll get cashback for the purchase! Here’s my referral link if you’re interested.
Google surveys
This will by no means make you tons of money, but it’s a very simple way to earn a little. If you download the app, you will get a notification when a survey is available. The surveys take very little time to complete and for each one you earn at least $.10. For only a minute or two to complete, it can add up over time.
Use a Rewards Credit Card
This one is tricky. If you get a credit card to use for rewards I recommend ONLY doing so if you plan to pay the entire balance of the card every month. If you don’t pay it off every month, you will likely pay more in interest than whatever perks or rewards you earn and can really hurt your credit score.
If used properly, you can earn a lot of awesome rewards. If you shop at a certain store a lot, you can get their credit card and earn a percentage off every time you purchase anything there.
If you love to travel you can earn airline miles. I personally use a Discover card to earn cashback. I can put cash back towards any future Discover bills, put the cash back towards purchases I make on Amazon, redeem it for gift cards or have it deposited straight into my bank account. You get 1% cashback on all purchases and each quarter you can earn 5% cashback at different places, such as grocery stores, gas stations or restaurants.
Sell Some of Your Clutter Lying Around
My husband and I did this when we moved. It’s insane how much stuff we save and pile up! If you go through each room in your house and find 10 things in each room, you will end up with 50-100 items that you can get rid of.
Most of those things you can probably sell on Facebook marketplace or another resale app. You could make a couple hundred dollars each time you do it. Not only will you be able to make some money, but you will also be decluttering your house!
Get a Side Hustle
This category is probably the least “easy ” on the list, but can still really help you earn extra money.
I work on transcription projects online, as well as work on my blog. These are both in addition to my regular full time job.
I make more doing the transcription projects, but enjoy working on the blog more. The blog is more of a hobby for me, so if I can make money on it in the long run, that’s a bonus. I took a 30 day course from It’s a Lovely Life to help me really get going on my blog. If you’re thinking about blogging, they also have a FREE 5 day crash course to help you get your blog set up.
There are a lot of online jobs available, such as transcription, blogging and virtual assisting. If you have a special talent, you can advertise your services on Fivver.
It can be difficult to find jobs online, since there are a lot of scams out there. Just be careful and smart when looking. Don’t give out any account information or bank info.
If finding something online is proving difficult, you can always find a job in your city as well. There are a lot of businesses in my town looking for help and they are generally pretty willing to work around other schedules if you are a good worker.
Hopefully you found something on this list that you can use to help you earn a little bit of extra money. Even if it seems small at first (like 10 cents on an item in Ibotta) it will all add up eventually (I currently have made $202 on Ibotta).
